More e-mobility at Uber thanks to astara

Recently, astara handed over the first 19 fully electric Hyundai IONIQ 5 vehicles to Uber drivers in Geneva. This milestone by astara paves the way for sustainable and emissions-free mobility in Switzerland. In the cities of Geneva, Lucerne, Basel, and Zurich, Uber users can now opt for the innovative "Comfort Electric" option and travel in a fully electric premium vehicle, the Hyundai IONIQ 5. A quantum leap in terms of the driving experience and environmental responsibility.

Comfort and sustainability combined

Regarding this news, Marco Monaco, Head of Key Account Management at astara Mobility Switzerland, expressed his excitement: "The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is the perfect model for passenger transportation thanks to its generous space concept and driving comfort. With various battery sizes, propulsion options, and performance levels, the IONIQ 5 is an ideal fully electric fleet vehicle."

In the near future, 31 more IONIQ 5 models will follow after the initial deliveries. A key factor in the selection of these electric vehicles by MITC Mobility, the employer for Uber drivers in Switzerland, was the impressive range of nearly 400 kilometers, combined with the highest level of driving comfort and spacious interiors. Another advantage is the low energy consumption of 16.7 kWh/100 km and particularly fast charging time. Thanks to advanced 800-volt charging technology, the 58 kWh battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes at a fast charging station. Furthermore, the IONIQ 5 was named Car of the Year 2022 (as reported by Auto Wirtschaft).

Joint steps for an emission-free future

The electrification of Uber vehicles in Switzerland aligns with the company's goal to create an emissions-free mobility platform in Europe, the United States, and Canada by 2030. Astara goes even further, aiming to be carbon-neutral by 2027 by further electrifying vehicles and relying more on renewable energy sources.

The introduction of the "Comfort Electric" option in Switzerland with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 not only marks a revolutionary change in mobility but also demonstrates Uber and astara's commitment to an environmentally friendly and sustainable future.

The good news is being well received

The handover of the IONIQ-5 fleet to MITC Mobility garnered attention in Swiss trade media. The Swiss trade magazine for vehicle procurement and corporate cars, "About Fleet" and the magazine focused on hybrid and electric vehicles, "Electric Wow" recently featured exciting reports about this news.
